Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how DailyTails Inc. (“DailyTails”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the DailyTails mobile application for iOS or Android (the “App”) and the dailytails.app website. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you first use the App we create an anonymous account for you on our servers so your data can be backed up and synced. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name from that provider and attach them to your account. We never see your Apple or Google password.

Content you create. Pet profiles (name, species, breed, birthday), daily mood and care logs, care reminders, your profile details (name, gender, birthday), your app preferences, and your pet-chat conversation history are stored on your device and synced to our servers so they survive device changes and stay consistent across your devices. Pet photos are the exception: they stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

Pet chat (AI). When you send a message in pet chat, we send your message, recent messages from that conversation, a short summary of the pet’s profile, recent mood and care activity, upcoming reminders, and your language and timezone to our servers, where the reply is generated using Google’s Gemini AI models. This context is what lets the pet “know” its own routine. Chat is subject to a daily message allowance. Conversations are stored with your account and are deleted when you delete your account.

Location (Explore). If you use the Explore feature to find pet-friendly places nearby, the App asks for your device’s location and uses it to search for places around you and to show distances. The search is processed by your device’s maps service (Apple Maps on iOS). Your location is never sent to or stored on our servers, and it is only used while you are using the feature.

Purchases. Subscriptions and gem packs are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. Payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google — we never receive your payment card details. To credit a purchase to your account, our servers receive the transaction identifier, the product purchased, and a signed receipt used to verify the transaction.

Rewarded ads. The App can optionally show rewarded video ads (served by Google AdMob) that you choose to watch to earn gems. Ads only load if you tap to watch one. In the European Economic Area and the UK we first ask for your consent through Google’s consent flow, and you can change or withdraw your choices at any time from the Profile screen. When a reward is verified, an opaque account identifier is shared with Google so our servers can credit the reward. Google’s use of advertising data is subject to your consent choices, your device settings, and Google’s Privacy Policy.

Notifications. Reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device. For notifications sent from our side (such as a gift of Premium), we store a push token for your device (Firebase Cloud Messaging) on our servers. The token is removed when you sign out or mute notifications in the App.

Usage, diagnostics, and crashes. We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes. This collects product-interaction events (for example, which screens are viewed), crash reports, and information your device provides automatically, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and a coarse region. This data is keyed to an opaque account identifier — not your name or email.

Server logs. Like most online services, our servers record technical data about requests — such as IP address, timestamps, and error details — which we use for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

Our website. The dailytails.app website is a static informational site. We do not set cookies or run analytics on it. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when the site loads.

2. How we use information

3. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the App on our behalf:

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

4. Data retention

Data synced to your account is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you delete your account (see below). Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. Analytics and crash data are retained according to our Firebase settings and Google’s retention policies.

5. Your choices and rights

Delete your account. You can delete your account from the Profile screen in the App. This permanently deletes your account and all synced data from our servers — pets, logs, reminders, chat history, profile, and preferences — removes your push tokens, and revokes the App’s connection to your Apple account if you used Sign in with Apple.

Other controls. You can mute notifications in the App, and change or withdraw your ad-consent choices from the Profile screen. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information; contact us using the details below to make a request.

6. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, appropriate safeguards apply to such transfers.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our backend is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable technical and organizational measures.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when the App gains new features that change what we collect. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do, and for material changes we will provide notice in the App.
